The Charge of the Task Force
Preamble
Stanford University is very proud of its diverse student
and alumni body, and is committed to ensure that all are included
in every aspect of Stanford life. While this task force is
being formed to focus on alumni of color, we know that in
many ways the experiences of alumni of color mirror the experiences
of all alumni. Therefore we expect what we learn will benefit
the entire alumni family.
General Charge
To make all alumni of color within the Stanford community
feel welcome at, valued by, proud of and included by Stanford,
and to give everyone a stake in its ambitions and achievements.
Specific Duties
The Task Force on Minority Alumni Relations shall have as its
purpose:
- To assess the accomplishments made since the 1996 Task
Force report was written;
- To communicate effectively Stanford's efforts and progress
with respect to issues of multiculturalism and diversity
to its alumni of color and to the broader alumni community;
- To provide mechanisms through which the opinions, needs,
and ideas of alumni of color can be sought, heard and acted
upon;
- To recommend ways to meaningfully and effectively involve
alumni of color within the Stanford Community on the local,
regional and national levels;
- To serve as a central clearinghouse of information on
the status of alumni of color;
- To address the remaining tasks listed in the 1996 Task
Force report, to the extent they are not implicitly covered
by any of the foregoing;
- To explore planning of an alumni of color conference/reunion;
and
- To recommend a method for monitoring progress in the
future once this committee completes its work and disbands.
