About the Task Force

Recognizing the University's increasingly diverse student and alumni bodies, and affirming their importance to the University, Stanford's Board of Trustees created the Task Force on Minority Alumni Relations in 2001 "to make all alumni of color within the Stanford community feel welcome at, valued by, proud of and included by Stanford, and to give everyone a stake in its ambitions and achievements." Composed of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and Trustees, and chaired by Harvard Law Professor Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., '74, MA '75, the Task Force is building upon the work of the original Task Force on Minority Alumni Relations (1994-1996).

The Task Force is working to ensure effective dialogue and communication between alumni of color and the University, to proactively address issues concerning alumni of color, and to foster a meaningful, long-term partnership between Stanford University and alumni of color.
